Spring 2019 in Ireland
In Spring 2019, I made my way all the way out to Cork, Ireland to spend an entire semester there studying as a part of their mechanical engineering program. While there I took classes in thermodynamics, structural/solid analysis, and electric power systems. I had the opportunity to completely immerse myself in a culture much different than what I was used to, and I had a great time doing it. Although the classes were set up much differently than they are at NC State, I found them equally, if not even more effective than I was used to. It also completely open me up to other ways of study and learning that I hope to apply to the rest of my time here at State. I was able to work experiments in their laboratories, use unfamiliar specialized equipment, and broaden my knowledge in engineering even more than if I had simply state at NC State. I also met plenty of fellow students and was able to do a bit of international networking that can only help in the future. Oh and it was also a ton of fun. It was an incredible experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world and I’m looking forward to more opportunities like that in the future.
